I passed my UK Foundation license in October 2024 with the help of Essex Ham as M7WDZ, and gained my Intermediate licence in May 2025 having completed the excellent BBDL Intermediate course. I'd thoroughly recommend both to anyone in the UK looking to gain or upgrade their licence. In August I'll start on the BBDL Full licence course, but in the meantime I'll make the most of my new privileges. Home QTH is Market Drayton in North Shropshire, England, halfway between Stoke-On-Trent and Shrewsbury. Market Drayton is one of the many places that claims to be the home of gingerbread, and my partner. who is a YL op (M7IDZ), is involved in its production. HF radios are currently a Xiegu G90, for POTA and SOTA activations (JPC7 and JPC12 antennas) and a Yaesu FT710 for home QTH duty. The home QTH end fed wire (UK Antennas) is producing some very good results, and a massive impovement over my original DIY random dipole.
