I received my license in 2004, took a break for several years, received my general in 2014, and got on HF for the first time in 2023. I worked in IT from 2001 - 2016 specializing in networking and security. In 2016 I took a new job as a Telecommunications Engineer, working for a regional Fiber ISP, owned by the electric utility. I didn’t leave the company, just changed departments after 10 years.
