In early 2024, I was infected with the HAM radio virus during a visit to the SS Rotterdam https://ssrotterdam.nl. In the radio shack of this nostalgic ocean liner, I was introduced to CW by HAM radio operators. Shortly after, I started experimenting license-free with Meshtastic. I quickly discovered that there was more possible and decided to take a HAM radio course, which I completed by obtaining my Novice license in January 2025. Initially, I was mainly active on HF, but by becoming a member of the local radioclub VERON08 PI4UTR https://a08.veron.nl and with the support of enthusiastic clubmembers, I started experimenting with QRP, VHF/UHF, DMR, C4FM, RTTY and BPSK. Due to this interest, the number of antennas, radios and heldhelds has grown along with it. I like to visit noise-free locations to make connections with my QRP radio. Each time I am amazed by the QSO's I make with a very simple vertical antenna using a 5 Watt QRP radio powered by 2 batteries.
